Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 487 - For a Child

This week the Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge is looking for a card suitable for a child. This is the second card I specifically designed for my grandchildren. (see the 1st card at 28 March 2020 CHNC 483, and watch for the 3rd card coming soon). I used the Manger Scene SVG from the Nativity Bundle from My Scrap Chick. I cut the images out using my Cricut Explore Air. I inked the paper edges. This card is 8.5" x 11" and I printed a copy of the Christmas story inside. The figures can be removed so the kids can rearrange the scene.

Join us each week and we will help you build your Christmas card stash.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 486 -Include a House or Other Building

For this week's Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge, the design team is looking for a card with a house of other buildings.  I decided to make a very CAS card using an older embossing folder from my stash. I made it in both silver and white. I added a silver bow and a sentiment from Penny Black.

Please let us inspire your Christmas stash for 2020. Join us each week for a new fun challenge!

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 485 - Snowman or Woman or Family

This week the Crafty's Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Design Team is looking for a project featuring a snowman, snowwoman or snow family. In the spirit of Good Cheer, I used a sweet snowman SVG by My Scrap Chick called Snowman Bottle Tag. I cut out the project using my Cricut Explore. I also embossed the scarf and hat ribbon, plus inked the snowman edges. While the design is a bottle tag, you could easily make this into a card as well.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 484 - Funny

The Design Team from Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Card Challenge is looking for a FUNny Christmas Card Challenge. Children really enjoy interactive cards so I created a slider card where you can see Santa's legs/body move up and down the chimney. For this card, I used an SVG cut file from My Scrap Chick called CG - Fireplace Slider Card. I cut the pieces out using my Cricut Explore. I also inked the edges of the piece using Distress Inks. The card stock is all from my paper hoard. *Added note: For this card, you use a penny to make the slider, but in Canada, we discontinued pennies in 2012. I looked in an awful lot of places to find an elusive penny.

I look forward to seeing your entries!

Simply Create Too - Challenge 159 - Anything But a Card!

The Blue Design Team from Simple Create Too is looking for a project that is anything but a card. Seeing that Easter is just around the corner, I thought I would make up an Easter Egg Holder and Easter Basket. Both my projects were created using my Cricut Explore Air, The basket uses an adorable SVG file from Dream Tree called, Easter Adorables Bundle - Mr. Bunny Basket. The bundle includes 3 fabulous patterns or you can just purchase Mr. Bunny separately. (I always buy the bundle). Dream Tree includes an image file and assembly video with all their designs. I inked the paper edges with distress ink and used papers from my stash.

The single egg holder SVG file comes from Digital Gems called Bunny Egg Holder *(Note: Gemma also sells the bunny bundled with a penguin, sheep, and duck. In total, she currently has 16 egg holders available and trust me, you will want them all. She also carries a series of lollipop holders as well). So far I have made 5 of the different critters using the suggested sizes DG proves for the foil cream eggs, but I have a child under 2 so I enlarged the bunny to fit the refillable plastic eggs and added a marshmallow peep. I inked the paper edges and added a large pom-pom tail.

Both of these projects turned out super cute and I can't wait to give them to the kids (hopefully the Corona Virus Lockdown will be over by then.)

Speaking about the Covid-19 virus, our design team leader, Angie (healthcare) and her husband (trucker) are both working during this trying time. I wish to thank them and all the people who are the "front line" for their service!

This month's challenge runs from Friday, April  3rd to Friday, April 24th, 2020

Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge April 2020

For my Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge I thought I would make something for Easter. I below to a number of crafter's group on Facebook and I found these absolutely ADORABLE cream egg holders. Gemma from Digital Gems designed these little gals and she has 13 on her site. She also has equally cute lollipop holders. Because this is a patterned paper challenge, I got out some papers from my hoard, and I think they are even cuter with Patterned Papers, Note: Cadbury in Canada has released new packaging for their Cadbury cream eggs and they have a band around them that will not fit properly in these holders. I used Hersey Branded chocolate eggs in mine. You could also slightly increase the size of the egg holders to hold Kinder Eggs or plastic refillable eggs.

Stop the hoard! and use some of those beautiful papers in your stash!
