Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 514 - Something beginning with the letter H

This week at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge, we are looking for something that begins with H. I picked Hot Chocolate and warm Hugs (see inside sentiment). I found this cute SVG file on My Scrap Chick's website store. It is called, MARSHMALLOW MARSHAL* COCOA CUP. *There is also a girl version of the card called Marsha. I used my own sentiments created by computer to better suit the theme. This card has a put out but I added a card stand (older Sizzix BigZ die) to the back of the cup so it would stand on it's own. I inked the edges of the card stock for added interest,

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 513 - Make your own background

This week at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge we are looking for a background you created. I have never used digital backgrounds that you print yourself. This week, Design Bundles had a free download called, Merry Christmas seamless patterns. New Year digital paper.  Because I wanted the pattern to be smaller than the download, using CorelDraw software I was able to copy the pattern 4 times, paste together and print a 6" x 6" version using my HP inkjet printer. The snowman, stamp and die, is called Snowy from Penny Black. This, hands down is my favourite Christmas stamp. The sentiment is also by Penny Black. The card stock strip is from my stash. I coloured Snowy with my Tombow markers.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 512 - Include a Flower or two or more

This week at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge we are looking for a card with flowers. I used 2 shades of red card stock, and a green, distressed them and added ink to the edges/sides. I pirced all the individual pieces together, added a scrap of yellow paper and dotted black paint ob the center. The background paper and sentiment are papers from my stash.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 511 - Include a Stocking

This week at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge we are looking for a stocking. I used an old Sizzix Bigz Stocking dies. This was one of the first dies I purchased for my Big Shot and you don't need the platform to cut it. I used Christmas card stock/paper from my stash.

Simply Create Too Challenge 165 - Use only Purple and Black

When the Simply Create Too Design Team was asked to create a card using only 2 colours - Black and Purple - I was not sure how I could make a colour using those two colours. I put my thinking hat on and tried modifying an embossing folder I received with a purchase of a craft magazine. I embossed it using both a purple and a black piece of card stock and cut the finished design at the sentiment and pieced it together to create a two coloured card. I added 3 black gems to complete the design.

After completing my first card, I realized I could use multiple shades of purple to create a card. I started with a 5 x 7 sheet of white Neenah Solar White Cardstock and inked it with all my shades of Distress and Distress Oxide Inks. Once that was done, I decided to add circles of colour using a stencil I created with my circle dies and punches for a bokeh effect. I also slashed the inks with water to complete the background. Next, I used a simple butterfly frame in black and added a die-cut sentiment from SSS.

Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge October 2020

This month's Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge. I decided on a Halloween/Fall theme. Nothing says fall like a pumpkin and Halloween like a black cat! I made this adorable box card (folds flat) with my Cricut Explore Air and the SVG file from My Scrap Chick "Cat and Pumpkin Box Card." I used patterned paper from my stash for the cat, pumpkin, and leaf.  The stamped sentiment and cat on the card back is for SSS called, "Hey Pumpkin."
