Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge December 2020

Another year is coming to a close at Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge. For December's Challenge, I had to make a Christmas Card and say "Merry Christmas" to everyone. I used 4 different patterned papers for this challenge - snow, evening sky, scarf, and nose. The background paper had some beautiful silver stars and a crescent moon, but the metallic paper doesn't photograph well for me. I used my Cricut and an SVG file from My Scrap Chick called. "Snowman's Wonderland." The papers are all from my stash aka Hoard.

Please join us every month. We love seeing your use of patterned papers!

Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge October 2020

This month's Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge. I decided on a Halloween/Fall theme. Nothing says fall like a pumpkin and Halloween like a black cat! I made this adorable box card (folds flat) with my Cricut Explore Air and the SVG file from My Scrap Chick "Cat and Pumpkin Box Card." I used patterned paper from my stash for the cat, pumpkin, and leaf.  The stamped sentiment and cat on the card back is for SSS called, "Hey Pumpkin."

Simply Create Too Challenge 163 - Black & White + 1 Other Color

Image may contain: text that says "9 Am On The Design Team At Simply Create Too!"

For this month's Simply Create Too Challenge we would like you to try to create a project using Black and White and a "POP" of another colour. I made a quick and easy purse card from My Scrap Chick. When I first was thinking about this card a solid B&W card looked flat. That is when I thought of using patterned paper. It gave my card that added punch. I used gold the highlight the purse hardware. The paper was from my stash. I used small magnets to keep the purse closed. The
SVG file I used is called Purse Card - Satchel. I made it using my Cricut Explore Air.

Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge June 2020

Our monthly Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge was created to prompt you to use your stash of patterned paper. If you are like me you have a ton of it, but for some reason, it stays in the paper pad or on your shelf. I made an easel card this month using different patterned papers. This card was created using a dun SVG cut file by My Scrap Chick called, "My Comfy Chair." It was super easy to put together and fun choosing the different papers and card stock. I also inked the edges of all my papers using distress ink for a little dimension.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 485 - Snowman or Woman or Family

This week the Crafty's Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Design Team is looking for a project featuring a snowman, snowwoman or snow family. In the spirit of Good Cheer, I used a sweet snowman SVG by My Scrap Chick called Snowman Bottle Tag. I cut out the project using my Cricut Explore. I also embossed the scarf and hat ribbon, plus inked the snowman edges. While the design is a bottle tag, you could easily make this into a card as well.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 484 - Funny

The Design Team from Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Card Challenge is looking for a FUNny Christmas Card Challenge. Children really enjoy interactive cards so I created a slider card where you can see Santa's legs/body move up and down the chimney. For this card, I used an SVG cut file from My Scrap Chick called CG - Fireplace Slider Card. I cut the pieces out using my Cricut Explore. I also inked the edges of the piece using Distress Inks. The card stock is all from my paper hoard. *Added note: For this card, you use a penny to make the slider, but in Canada, we discontinued pennies in 2012. I looked in an awful lot of places to find an elusive penny.

I look forward to seeing your entries!

Braxton's Ducky

I have made my goddaughter's children all a 3D picturescape, so when it came to Braxton's (a one-year-old boy who loves Ducks) I made a duck. I used 3 different SVG files to make my image. I started by making a simple black frame 10.5 x 10.5" to fit inside the 12 x 12 shadow box frame. Next, I created the adorable duck with an SVG from My Scrap Chick. I cut him out and layered him uses 3D foam tape and layered him both behind and in front of the black frame. I added the bullrushes SVG from Cricut Access, and finally using vinyl, I mirrored the SVG sentiment from Etsy and attached it to the back of the glass.

This is a screenshot of my created design in Cricut's Design Space.

This is my final challenge for September. I am ending with the Technique Challenge. There are many fabulous YouTube, Pinterest, Google tutorials about how to make an Easel or Tri-fold card. If you have any questions, please feel to contact me directly.
