Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 509 - For Someone Special

This week at the Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge, we are looking for a card for Someone Special. Every card I create is for someone special.  I try to never make the same card twice, and if the recipient wasn't special, I wouldn't take the time, care, and love it put into each card. This week's card is a gatefold card with a belly band. I have a friend that each your I create a special Christmas Tree Card for. I used my Cricut Explore Air and the Christmas Tree SVG file from Simply Crafty SVGs. The sentiment is from MFT. I started by selecting my papers. I used pale green glitter paper, hologram green for inside tree, gold foil paper for the star, and fun dots for the accents.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 492 - Include a Bear

This week the Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge is looking for a bear. I opted for a super simple design, using only patterned paper and a bonus bow! I purchased some really beautiful Christmas themed paper from Michael's. As they constantly changed their everyday paper pads, I don't know the exact name of this paper. I used 4 papers from the pack and added a sentiment die from MFT to complete it.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge – 52CCT32-19 – Technique- Joseph’s Coat

Joseph’s Coat Technique
How to Directions:
Netta from the 52CCT Design Team is inviting us to try a new technique. I have provided some directions on how to do the technique above. I went in a slightly different direction. I used Distress Inks and sponged them on Neenah White Cardstock in various colours. Next, I stamped a bear, bucket of fish, and tree in Versamark ink and embossed in clear powder. Next, I  blended Versamark black ink over the cardstock. Finally, I wiped the ink off the embossed images with a paper towel. The bears are from MFT (My Favorite Things POLAR BEAR PALS), the trees (Clearly Besotted LET’S PRANCE) and sentiment by SSS.

Simply Create Too – Challenge #151 – July 5 to July 26 – AG/Opt Twist Use Pattern Paper

1 Simply Create 2 DT
This month at Simply Create Too, the design team is looking for a project that uses patterned paper. My little grandson just celebrated his 6th birthday. When he was born I made him a lovely picture for his wall using the saying “what are little boys made of.” Fast forward 6 years, and he feels it is a little too “baby” for him. So me, in my wisdom, told him I would make him a new picture, I problem, I asked him what he would like. His immediate response was Black Panther!. OMG, how do I do a 3D picture of BP? Well, I search the web and was able to purchase an SVG file of the Black Panther character, one of Africa and one of the BP script. Hours later I put it all together-never again!
I found fabulous 12 x 12 leafy patterned paper for the background. I cut all my main images using my Cricut Explorer Air. I welded the BP logo on the map of Africa and cut it out approximately 7″ tall from a map patterned cardstock. I backed the logo with black cardstock then added it to the background using one layer of foam tape so start the 3D effect. Because the Cricut will not cut edge to edge on the 12 x 12 mat, I created a grass border frame 11 x 11 and layered it on the background using 2 layers of foam tape. Next, I added the Black Panther figure with 3 layers of foam tape. For the final steps, I added various die cut leaves from my collections of die -Memory Box, MFT, Penny Black, SSS.
The Black Panther SVG was my first attempt at a multi-layered image. I think the SVG was designed more for a t-shirt then for my purpose and the details were extremely hard to do. I had problems with glue showing as I had to lift and reposition lines multiple times. To resolve the issue, I sprayed it with semi-matte lacquer. After 3 coats it covered the glue.
I also made Brock’s birthday cards using the same BP character but I printed the image on my colour HP printer and layered it on the Africa cut. He loved it. If you have any questions, please email me for more details.

52 Christmas Card Challenge – 52CCT20-19 – May 25th – Technique: Eraser

This week we at 52 CCTC are trying a whole new technique to me. It is called Eraser Technique. For examples of this technique and the instruction check out the Eraser technique (herehere and here). So I started with a blank A2 card and MFT’s Snow Flurry Stencil. I secured the stencil on my craft mat using masking tape. Next, I took a piece of sandpaper and brushed an HB pencil across it making lead dust. I used a clean distress ink sponge tool by Tim Holtz and picked up the dustings and ran the tool across the stencil leaving leaded snowflakes across the card. I stamped Penny Black’s, Snowy on the card. I then erased any snowflakes that showed on the stamped area. The final step was to colour the little snowman with Tombow markers in grey tones. The only colour I used was on his cheeks. The sentiment is from SSS.

October Cards 2017

One Stamp-Eighteen Cards – Featuring BB Polar Bear Pals by MFT

I was asked to create 18 Personal Christmas Cards that depicted “Canada”. I immediately thought of Polar Bears, and My Favorite Things –  BB Polar Bear Pals stamps and dies were Perfect! Well you know me, I can’t create the same card twice (well I can, but this is way more fun) so I created 18 different cards using the same stamp set. Here are the results!

When creating the cards, I used Copics, Derwent Inktense Pencils, Distress Inks to colour. I also used various dies, stamps, and punches from Memory Box, MFT Dienamics, Stampin’ Up, Spellbinders, Lawn Fawn dies, SSS, and Penny Black. Plus: papers, card stock, gems, sequins, stickers, ribbon and twine for my stash. If you have specific questions about the products I used feel free to contact me.
