Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge 489 - Include a Tree or Two or More

This week at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge, we are looking for cards with trees! I decided to make some more watercoloured tree backgrounds and trees. I used various tree stamps and dies from Tim Holtz, Penny Black, Stampin' Up, Impression Obsession and Dee's Distinctively Dies.

I used Distress Ink sprays and ink pads as the watercolour media, watercolour and Neenah Solar white card stock/paper. The snow hills are hand-cut. I tried using multiple colours for a blended effect, and the smooshing technique. All around I simply had fun.

This will be my final card I make as a member of the C.R.A.F.T. Design Team. It has been a fabulous 4.5 years and I will truly miss working with Jo and her wonderful team. The C.R.A.F.T. challenge this week is to distress our project. I used a SVG digital file simply called Ice Skate card delightful cut by Digital Delights by Louby Loo. I downloaded the project to Cricut Design Space and cut out the pieces. Before assembling the skate I distressed and inked each piece using the Tim Holtz distress blade tool and Distress ink. Vs using the circle holes for the skate, I opted to use my We R Memory Keeping Eyelet punch and used twine laces. I added a Merry tag by Kaisercraft.

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 510 – 18th of April – Recipe

For our CRAFT challenge this week, Jo is inviting everyone to design a card based on a recipe. It must include an image, 2 ribbons, and 3 patterned papers. This challenge was especially fun as I used papers designed by our own Design Team Leader, Jo at Trimgym’s Digistamps, Papers and Images.  For my image, I used a cute mouse and snowflake by Penny Black that I coloured with my Copics.

The CRAFT design team is trying to help you establish your Christmas card stash, so we have another Christmas card challenge. I decided to do something a little non-traditional. I used a fun silhouette digi stamp called, Roping Santa Digital Stamp Q-digi13709 by QKR Stampede. I started by printing the digi using my laserjet printer. Next, with my Minc embossed the image with black foil. Using Distress Ink I blended a sunset background. Finally still using Distress Ink and Versafine ink, and a retired western themed stamp set by the late Waltzingmouse Stamp Co. I stamped the mountain/desert background. The sentiment was from cardstock from my stash.

C.R.A.F.T. – Challenge 508 – 4th of April – Inspired by a Song

Click here to go to challenge blog
The C.R.A.F.T. Design Team is looking for a project inspired by a song. With St. Patrick’s Day just passed, I was listening to the Irish Rovers. One of my favourite songs is their Unicorn Song. Yesterday was my honorary granddaughter’s Fourth birthday. Her theme was “Unicorn Princess”. I racked my brain for ideas because I wanted to make her something extra special. I ended up with a Unicorn Princess paperscape shadowbox. For the base of the picture I used Dreaming Tree’s, For Mom SVG Bundle and added the Unicorn Princess SVG from Printable Cuttable Creatables. All the papers, gems, pearls, were from my stash. The shadow box was picked up when Hobby Lobby had their buy one get one free sale. Everything was cut with my Cricut Explore Air and Design Space. I did cut 4 sets of eyelashes and doubled them up for more dimension. My granddaughter loved it. She loves her bling! Note: It was hard to photograph as the picture was behind glass.

Click here to go to challenge blog
This week the CRAFT Design Team is looking for a Love or Valentine’s Day Card. Yes, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! I picked this adorable digi from The Paper Shelter,  called Pizza Chef. I was originally thinking on the Dean Martin song, Amore…When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie – That’s amore! but I ended up with “You stole a pizza of heart! Happy Valentine’s Day” for my inside sentiment. I used my Copic Markers to colour the chef, and dies and scraps to make the pizza.
